The Asian Urbanist San Francisco - Who are we?

Building a city where we all belong.

The San Francisco Asian Urbanist is a community-driven movement dedicated to clarifying and focusing the desires and needs of the Asian community within the fabric of our city. We provide a platform for an evolving population that seeks to improve the urban environment for everyone. Our members are a vibrant mix of immigrants and American-born residents, unified by a shared love for the cities we call home.

Our Vision for a Livable SF

We believe that a truly livable city is built on the foundation of safety, accessibility, and integration. Our advocacy focuses on:

  • Public Transit & Pedestrianized Safety: Prioritizing safety within mass transportation and creating pedestrianized spaces that allow our seniors and young children to navigate the city with confidence. Building spaces that are safe for the most vulnerable in our community is building equitable spaces.

  • Joyful Density: We champion dense housing that is not just functional, but also incorporates joy through community spaces that facilitate intergenerational connection and mixing.

  • Civic Activation: We aim to foster a safe environment where Asian voters can be informed and civically activated to address the long-term health and vitality of our neighborhoods.

Advocacy and Community

By drawing on our diverse backgrounds and experiences, we utilize our unique perspectives to guide policy and create practical urban solutions. We are here to combat negative stereotypes regarding civic participation and to ensure our voices are central to the conversation about the future of San Francisco.

Together, we are building a city that celebrates our heritage while embracing a modern, accessible, and joyful urban future.
